There are four natural gas Local Distribution Companies (LDCs) in North Carolina.

Piedmont Natural Gas Company, Inc. (Piedmont), provides service to a total of 729,643 customers (including approximately 52,700 municipal customers served by the three municipalities to which Piedmont provides service) in the State of North Carolina.  Piedmont's headquarters are located in Charlotte, and it has a satellite office in Raleigh. Public Service Company of North Carolina, Inc. (PSNC), serves 487,415 customers in 26 counties in the piedmont and mountain areas of the state.  The major cities served are Raleigh, Durham, Gastonia, and Asheville.  PSNC's headquarters are located in Gastonia. Phone: 1-877-776-2427

Frontier Natural Gas Company, LLC (Frontier) provides service to 1,623 customers in Surry, Wilkes, Yadkin, Watauga, Ashe, and Warren Counties.   Frontier's headquarters are located in Elkin.  Phone: 336-526-2690 or 1-800-537-2545       

Toccoa Natural Gas (Toccoa) provides service to 585 customers in and around Franklin in Macon County.  Toccoa is a municipal corporation in the state of Georgia and serves nearly 8,000 customers, most of them in Georgia. Phone: 1-828-349-1222

Collectively, the four LDCs serve a total of 1,229,596 customers in North Carolina and have total annual revenues of $1.241 billion.  These companies have experienced an average customer growth rate of approximately 1.5% annually over the past five years and a growth rate in 2011 of 1.3%, compared to the national growth rate of basically zero for 2011.  The volume of natural gas sold in North Carolina in 2011 was 291,774,101 dekatherms (dts), an increase of 0.7% compared to 2010.
