Tasked with monitoring the operations of regulated water and sewer utilities with regard to service and rates. Included in these duties are performing field investigations of these utilities to review and evaluate design, construction, and operation, recommending changes when necessary; researching the files of the Commission and other state agencies for reports and correspondence relating to compliance with water quality and service regulations; preparing information, data, and recommendations for use by the Commission; and presenting expert testimony regarding service, expenses, and rate design at formal hearings. Division Director reports to the Public Staff Executive Director.
The Water and Sewer Division consists of a director, six engineers and an office assistant. Members of the Staff work generally with other members of the Accounting, Consumer Services, Economic Research and Legal Divisions.
